My guess is he`s a Vizard but originally a Quincy instead of a Shinigami.
Does this mean Ishida & Friends will finally be able to keep up with Ichigo and get that much needed power-up?

I am actually impressed he remembered that Quincy's were supposed to be the only ones capable of erasing Hollows.

Ivan looks really like Azien. especially his lower jaw in bleach manga, hope to read more in bleach 483.
I'm not sure what to make of Ivan, his entrance is just too comical for me to take him seriously as a bad guy.
It's probably something to do with the Quincy's all being killed and maybe they became hollows and then arrancarified but instead of having zanpakuto they use Quincy attacks instead?
Okay, finally page 16 is working for me. Why do they resemble Nazis in my eyes?
