Old question: examiner and cough

In the Preliminaries of the 3rd Test of the Chuunin exam, the examiner has a cough. Does anyone know why? It seems that he's not going to be mentioned ever again, so are there any clues from what we've seen?

My theory is that it's just showing the variety of injuries ninjas go through to become a jounin. It makes you appreciate that the Chuunin exam is though and ninjas get permanent injuries. When you see the parents of some of the characters, they have scars.

I think this was asked before....the best theory I heard was that it simply makes him unique, interesting, and connects the character to the viewers. That way, we feel bad when he gets killed. Poor hayate![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]
