How pathetic is the sand village?

i mean there kage has been sending people to assasinte Gaara for years, and none of them had ANY succes at all. it even states that hes never been hit before, i mean if rock lee can do it and hes not even a chuunin surley there must be some ninja from the sand that could do it.

so it leave sme to take one of two conclusions either a) the sand village is weak as hell (woudl seem to be the case due to the seemingly instant rebuffal of there forces following konohas will to do so) or b) he was just training him? could it be Gaara has misplaced his hatred in his father.

Well yeah, the sand village is in fact pathetic, but if you remember the reason was stated earlier. The leader of the country of the wind cut military funds, and as a result, the sand couldn't keep a powerful village of ninjas.

i think they said they had to sacrifice quantity for quality, so the overall stregnth should have remaind the same or went up. acording to the anime at least...

That's true, but logically, that'll be difficult to do without money as well. Plus, I think that Gaara may have been the first step towards attempting to increase the quality of the individual ninja.

Yea I think I remember Baki telling them that the Leader of Wind cut their military power in half and started giving high paying mission's that should have went to them to Leaf. In fear of Sand being completely destroyed they decided to raise the level of ninja with Gaara being the test subject. So I'm guessing the assasins were low level ninja's that they could no longer afford to pay and that prob had no chance of defeating Gaara like his Aunt. So in the end I'm going with your Gaara had misplaced hatrid answer.

hmm the sand village isnt really pathetic its one of the villages with a kage and only the 5 stonrgest got a kage. im guessing that you are comparing to the leaf which is the strongest village and also biggest so we cant really measure the sand villages strength.

Ditto. Pretty much summed up what i was about to say just now

the powers between the 5 countries are supposed to be balanced. no one village with in a country (the reason why a country is strong or weak) is stronger than the other. maybe leaf, but that's probably cuz it's NARUTO's village and it's emphasized more...

you think they would make it a weaker village, so he has some sort of goal you know?
Being as naruto is below average an all... at least according to the older ninjas, and the tests

Maybe we'll see more talent in the other villages we havnt seen yet. So far all the real baddies hav come from Konoha village

i think kabuza has been the best bad guy so far. i hope kisame lives up to him.

Yeah, i actually think the Zabuza saga had the most interesting bad guys so far. It showed a lot of perrsonal feeling behind the characters, like Haku, who's a pretty unique villain with sum awsome advanced bloodline abilities. Now most baddies are all 'i wanna kill for power'. Gaara had his reasons though, he was a pretty good character, not as deep as Zabuza and Haku tho i rekon

You said rock lee can do it? I didn't see him assasinate gaara. And he even opened 5 gates, and gaara still lived. Your point is null.

I suspect with Rock Lee's drive he will be fighting again soon. Hell he was doing pushups days after he entered the hospital why wouldn't he be able to fight?
