How do you fansub?

Hi, im just wondering what are the procedures and programs are used for fansubbing? I'm kinda interested in learning how to do it, since its summer and I have alot of time now.

For a basic overview, see http://apr.vvv.tf/guide.html -- the infusion fansub guide. It's a good intro to the whole process (note that everyone does stuff slightly differently though).

Timecop's guide is also good (though more specialized), but I can't seem to get the page to load and don't like referring people to google cache pages, so I guess that's out for now.
