Was mist village really a Rank A mission?

When Kakashi gets back from his mission he has another S ranked Mission assigned to him. This makes me wonder if the mist mission was higher than the suposed A Rank.
Kakashi stated that it was a Rank A mission before he even met zabuza. I dont know what a Rank S mission is like, but i think thats probably the level of a Rank S mission(err the fighting zabuza that is.)

I dont think there's really anything else that can be considered a Rank S mission than killing/fighting a Rank S criminal/missing nin.


I brought this up because of the recent Anime Ep., the "rank B mission". I really think that we have to high of a impression of a rank A mission, i dont think the mist mission was a Rank A, but maybe a Rank S.

1. 'Rank S missions' is only ever talked about in fanmade comics like the one where everyones stats are shown, their age, the age they became chuunin/jounin. AFAIK officially there is no Rank S... unless the comic is actually official data.

2. Zabuza was never Rank S. If Kakashi can kill him, and Itachi/Kisame/Orochimaru are 'Rank S missing-nins' and can kill Kakashi... I don't think Zabuza was Rank S

3. Kakashi said it was B rank, with the possibility that it was A rank when the Demon Brothers fought them.

Unfortunately, you are incorrect. There are S-rank missions, but they are highly classified according to the Official Fanbook which is written by Kishimoto.

In chapter 228, Kakashi is assigned an S-rank mission by Tsunade, but decides to search for Sasuke and Naruto instead.

the wave country mission was rank A level, but was officially marked as C......
therefore kakashi, naruto, sakura, and sasuke got it credited for being a C rank mission

SS rank mission would be a mission that involves raping a certain hokage.
