Don't care too much for Jurassic 5, like Sharingan Kakashi .. but, that's probably all he and I can agree on if he thinks the Blueriprint 2 was a great album. (Do not get uptight or upset, it is said in a sarcastically jabbing manner.)
But, really .. C'mon, SK .. The Blueprint 2!? The first one, and the Black Album, surely. Not to mention Reasonable Doubt. All favorites in my book. But, the Blueprint 2!? .. You must have had nothing else to listen to over that summer and allowed it to grow on you. The second version of the Blueprint 2 that he put out (because he knew the first version was gar-bage!) was much better.
And, I like Reggae. But, this Reggaeton stuff .. Sometimes catchy, but highly annoying with the frustratingly repetitive beat. Every song, same beat and background.
i think thats a pretty good list too, half of them i dont listen too though. i've never been a big jay z fan, but i dont want to start any argument over him right now. About nas though, i really like illmatic, it was written, and the i am and the stillmatic albums. I think the roots are real hot though and i like masta ace but i wasnt really feeling his last album. almost bought it too, but i chose jean grae instead (what a great choice too).
anybody watching this subtle busta rhymes come back? he has a hot song called i'll hurt you, real nice flow on it.
hmm, ive never thought about that strider, youre right i did buy it over that summer couple years ago. lol i will have to wait a while since ive last heard it then listen to it again and see. disk 1 was very commerical, but disk 2 was great i thought.
ive been expecting the busta rhymes comeback for a while, since he signed with aftermath a couple years ago. about illmatic, i think it would be the greatist album ever...if it wasnt only 9 songs long. and i think nas' flow and lyrics are great, but the production is not perfect in my mind.
you know who i think is really overrated, rakim. got in an arguement with this kid natti the other day over that, i said 2pac was the greatist rapper ever, and he says rakim. ive listened to rakim's so called best album, paid in full, plenty of times but i dont think its the best shit ive ever heard.

Jay-Z is not a good rapper. Does sell a lot of records? Yes. But is a good rapper? No.
He makes money cuz he always has party songs and that's what mainstream rap is all about nowadays.
what a generalization that was mut. you should actually try listening to jay-z, are the singles dumb party songs most of the time? yes. is that what the whole album is about? hell no.

It's not that I don't like Jay-Z, I like some of his songs. But some of his lyrics are bombared with unmatching syllables in the bars causing him to say one line with 7 words in it and then rap for 10 seconds spitting out a paragraph to make it rhyme.

im not sure i'm a huge fan of rakim either, but i'll admit that i havent really heard a lot from him. and about jay z, it's hard to say that he isnt a good rapper because he does make some hot records. however, the only way i'd ever have 6 of his albums is they were all burned. you can correct me on this, but i would say that in his albums the songs that aren't party songs, more often than not have weaker beats. so that could lead to people saying the only good songs he makes are party songs.
naaaaah, jay-z always has ill beats by just blaze.

There is a distinct difference between someone who isn't good at rapping and someone who can't make good music. Does Jay-Z make good music that I can enjoy? Yes. But just because he makes good music that doesn't mean he is a good rapper. His songs have good beats, which is what people hear first and it's what attracts people to certain songs. But the way he raps in some of his songs is terrible, and just to clarify, I'm not talking about his lyrics. And no, he doesn't record his freestyles and release them as tracks on his albums. That's retarded and it's a lie.

EDIT: and youre missing my point. i dont get how you can say a rapper is not good, but then say he makes good music, seems contradicting imo. if you are saying you listen to the beats more than anything i dont understand this either, since you could just get the mixtape with only instrumentals, or just download instrumentals. i see you must not know much about hip hop to not understand what i meant by the freestyle comment. rappers like jay-z and Biggie dont write down their lyrics. they listen to the beat, then they go into the booth and freestyle to it. just because its broken into 16 bars doesnt mean it isnt a freestyle.
It's not a contradiction. You're just not understanding what not being able to rap well means and how it doesn't necessarily means that shitty rappers can't make good music. When I say "rapping well" I mean being able to do the act of rapping (rhyming) fluently and without fucking up on the speed which one raps. Jay-Z says one line (8-9 words) in 3 seconds, then he tries to fit 12-14 words in the same time. It sounds retarded. I'm not saying that he does this all the time, otherwise I would just say he sucks, period. But that's not the case.Quote:

Did I say that he is a bad lyricist? No. He can write average to good lyrics, but that doesn't mean he can rap the lyrics like Nas and some others can.Quote:

I'm only going to say this one last time, stop assuming stupid shit. If anything, chances are I probably have listened to more rap and hiphop, and know more about it than you considering I'm 4 years older than you are. Thus giving me a longer time to experience it. Anyway, I know what you mean by freestyling over the beats, but not writing down what you wrote is stupid. You don't think they didn't wrote down rhymes prior to their battles back in the days when they were trying to make it big by freestyling? There is no way anyone can memorize all the lyrics to one song they record if they are doing it off freestyling. People fuck up, often, when they freestyle. true, i am taking it from biggie and jay's mouths as true, and the producers. the way i understand it, they listen to the beat, think, and freestyle to it, which is recorded. they probably need more than 1 take of course to perfect it to sound like a real song broken into 16 bars with a hook and not just 52 bars. i trully cant say this is fact, since i wasnt actually there to watch them with my own eyes.
Gatman and robin.....oh nooo. are you serious?? i cant believe they made that song, he's running out of ideas for songs. his album made me sick, with songs like "get in my car" and "just a little bit" what is he thinking?
and i've also heard that jay z freestyles and never writes anything down. i dont know if he does or not, but it clearly works well enough for him to be still rapping like that. it seems very unlikely though that he doesnt write anything down, with so many songs, he has to confuse himself if he makes everything up off the top. it's hard to say that he's not better than the average rapper though, even if you dont like him. i just wish he was still making songs like "cant knock the hustle" that was really tight.
i'm also feeling that new q-unique cd, you guys should check that. he has some serious skills
gatman and robin is a good song, love the beat and em's flow on that one. just a little bit, the beat is crazy...
