Kimimaro was Orochimaru's choice for a perfect new body. It would have been fine, had Kimimaro actually been healthy (he's close to death). He's loyal to Orochimaru-dono to a fault, can grow bones ito swords, and parts his hair weird. Orochimaru-dono is now after Sasuke-kun, but Kimimaro doesn't seem phased by it. He still want's to prove himself to Orochimaru-dono.
You forgot the part about his seal, and his perfect bloodline.
