maybe sasuke whent to orochimaru with the intent of becoming better friends with oro than that he was with naruto, and then he kills orochimaru, gaining his mangekyou, relieving lot of people and aiming his focus back to itachi and the akatsuki...
Also i don't really think Orochimaru knows anything about Sasuke's intent to gain the mangekyou Sharingan because its probably the ability that makes Itachi surpass oro and i dont that he really wants sasuke to get stronger than himself at this point. I am pretty sure it is SASUKE's desire
