I still say it again, it doesn't matter what rank he has, Kira never is put in a situation where he has to command anyone who isn't already licking the grime off his boots! He tells Athrun to do something, Athrun does it. He tells Maryu to do something, she does it. And even if they don't listen to Kira, they then have to hear the same damn request worded in cryptic philisophical banter from Lacus, so they get confused and do it anyway
