Itachi
Kakashi is the coolest so far because (and this is only for the anime viewers) we don't know his backstory and so he seems so much more mysterious. While Itachi is just a really self-obsessed butthole who has no allegiance to anything or anyone. I also feel that Kakashi's mellowness is totally better than Itachi's villain act. I just find laid back characters that much more bad-ass because I start imagining what it might be like if they tried hard or got infuriated.
Humans are different from animals. We must die for a reason. Now is the time for us to regulate ourselves and reclaim our dignity. The one who holds endless potential and displays his strength and kindness to the world. Only mankind has God, a power that allows us to go above and beyond what we are now, a God that we call "possibility".

If Kakashi actually got upset we might see a few of his alleged thousand jutsu.
Kakashi is definitely cool, and more so above Itachi.
