Orochimaru honestly doesn't need his hands.....But it also helped that he had Kabuto with him.
Tsunade had Shizune. Jiraiya was far more handicapped than Tsunade, and he held Orochimaru off just fine. I've already said it in this thread: Tsunade just doesn't have the jutsu necessary to take on baddies like Orochimaru and Akatsuki.

Exactly, she just sucks...She may be a great leader but she just can't fight ORO.
One should never compare Shizune to Kabuto...The skill difference is immense. As for leadership vs 'strength', I think Tsunade has more strength than leadership capability, but not by much. Tsunade's main talent is in her driving force to do something, and her relation to the First. She was holding her own quite well, I thought, despite her injuries. Besides, most of that fight was Godzilla esque...
That is so true. What the hell is up with all the 4th Hokage love anyway, I've seen more fanart of him than 80% of the regular cast combined.
Well, if you see fanart of the 4th holding Hinata's hand, that's probably just adult Naruto (roll-eyes). I find one of the 4th's techniques overrated, his lighting flash jutsu where he could transport instantly to anywhere one of his kunai are. I mean, isn't that just an advanced form of Kawamiri? I know he could travel vast distances in an instant, but the fact that his kunai HAS to be there for it to work seems kind of lame. The only way I could see that useful is if you're stuck somewhere.

In the Kakashi Gaiden, it looked to me as if the 4th moved that fast because of his own speed, unless I'm missing something. Once when he rescued Kakashi from the Rock guy, and again when he appeared behind the same guy and killed him. I didn't notice any kunai being flung about in either of those situations.

The kunai has nothing to do with 4th's technique. The kunai that he gave Kakashi was specially made. So when it was used 4th would know that its taken out of its place and propably being used in a attack so he could reach Kakashi. It was just like an alarm.
