It was kind of hard for me to understand all the different moves at first but after you get into it it's a really great anime. The style is very different from anything i've seen before and i think that's refreshing.
It seems like the show is finished already (Ep 26 Raw END is out) but it will probably take Triad some time to get them all done.

Just watched this episode - very nicely done, an excellent match, and conclusion - match could have gone either way. Interesting touch that they don't seem to draw out the episodes/matches/games, typically I'd expect (from watching an episode) that game/match would be drawn out over a few episodes, however seems to end/conclude very abruptly at times, reflects nicely on nature of the gamble.
Looks like next episodes will have skipped forward in time, thankfully - I'd say series will really start to bloom now (as if already wasn't vastly better than expected).
Shame triad don't seem to like this anime (or at least that was impression I got from their site).

Yeah, all the mahjong explanation must take some work. And yes it will have skipped 5 or 6 years in the next ep, will be fun to see Akagi as a 18/19 year old =P

Episodes 8 and 9 have been out for quite some time, I just watched them. I think these two episodes have been my favorite so far, just because it shows how kickass of a character Akagi is, he's awesome. I think he's my all-time favorite anime character.
