I picked this series out of better things to do when Boxtorrents went offline for a change, and this was a nice little packet to download in the mean time. I remembered scanning some posts here earlier and thus wasn't exactly expecting anything spectacular.

The first episode was sheer torture to watch, as most characters were total airheads, and I have no idea what so ever why they are supposed to be in the military. Back when I was in the army most of these boys and girls would have been shipped back home on the first train to grow some balls.

However, after watching the second episode something began to dawn on me, and during the third episode it was indeed very evident: This is one of those series that's so badly executed, accidentally or purposefully (you never know what those crazy Japanese are thinking) that it's actually funny. Quite funny indeed. I can't help but think that for the director or script writers this is the first action show ever, and in the past they have only made some light school drama or something.

The action is particularly hilarious with hand-grenades being thrown with the pin still safely securing the handle in place (that's good for these n00b soldiers, but too bad the grenade still explodes), cadets that are afraid of guns (gee, I wonder why they joined the military in the first place), half a dozen military personnel shooting at an unmoving target at point-blank distance yet still missing after multiple rounds... Man, this show is pure comedy, even if anidb and animenfo have forgotten to include the comedy classification in the genres list. But ANN at least noticed it.
