Heh, you calling it Lylat Wars is a dead giveaway that you're from the UK. I'm hoping that there will be a Star Fox title on the Wii. It would be similar in controls to the Warhawk game that Sony showed off at their conference, just a smoother execution of it.

Right now Nintendo is showing off games like "Wii Sports" but I can't wait until some other 3rd party developers like EB Games get a chance to test out the Wii.

Graphics-wise, pretty much. I'm not gonna deny it - I'm disappointed that the Wii isn't much in terms of graphical improvement. The other stuff is enough to make up for it though. Also, that VG Cats strip is awesome. *saved*

It does have better than the gamecube, just look at some of the shading in hi-res videos of Mario Galaxy to see that its more capable than its counterpart. I mocked up this quick side by side (better ones exist). Both are at 640x480 resolution to make a direct comparison.
    Mario Galaxy vs Mario Sunshine

It's more powerful than the gamecube, approximately 4 of them by earlier estimates. It's no Xbox360 or PS3, but its easy to program for, cheap for all sides (manufacturing, game production, and consumer), and you don't need to buy a new TV to see the real benefit.

Just think how much the graphics improve over time on all the previous gen systems (especially the original PS). The architecture for the Wii is basically the same to the Cube. Instead of floundering about with new hardware, programmers already know how to push the Cube to its limits, and now they've got four of them in one box. They will easily be able to pick it up and max it out.

so i guess no one readed the french link i posted.. lol

oh well.. here a cheap Translation from what was found on the website :

We could notice at the time of this E3 that the games of Nintendo Wii was not very beautiful. And if that proved that Nintendo had used of GameCube?

Several Internet sites gave a report on a quite curious news. Indeed, it would be of GameCube which would have been used to make the demonstrations of the famous gyroscopic controller of the future console new generation of Nintendo. Everything started from the presence of a GameCube on the estrade of the theatre during the conference of Nintendo. The rumors then broke and, to slow down this avalanche of assumptions, Nintendo took the trouble to emit an official statement. "Yes, there realy was a GameCube on the estrade, but this one contained components of Wii." It act as a prototype designed for the E3.

Nintendo, by the voice of Matt Atwood, also indicated that many games presented at the E3 did not reflect the true power of the machine. We will have to wait before knowing more about what the console has to offer. The technical specifications are perhaps not final.

That a curious strategy of Nintendo which, for the moment, set much more on the new experience of play. When we look at the conference again, we can clearly see that it is the controller which holds the top of the poster. The console seems to be put at the second plan since Nintendo communicates almost nothing on the components of its console.

"and here there is a picture of the nintendo gamecube on the stage*

I fear that adding Snake in SSBB will spell the end for the franchise:

    R.I.P Captain America.

That's ok XanBcoo, you've got two other mediocre systems to play with. You're not Nintendo's target audience if graphics are gonna be your priority.
