Why doesn't Naruto have a family?

as for why he has no foster family, well, it doesn't make alot of sense to me either... Somebody had to have taken care of him when he was an infant, but whoever it was probably decided they didn't want to deal with the flak from the rest of the village, so they stopped taking care of Naruto the second they thought he could survive on his own..

As for who took care of him - I think it's just a responsibility that the hokage accepts for the village. The japanese have that whole honor thing, and paying for the sins of your ancestors, so it just makes sense that the next hokage would inherit the duty of taking care of naruto.

One thing I've always wondered is how kyuubi was sealed in naruto. This does not seem to be the same technique that the third used against Oro. In that technique the target's soul was sealed in the belly of the death god. In this technique the target's soul was sealed inside a baby. They don't seem to be the same at all. I'm not even sure that the Third indicated it was the same jutsu when he was fighting Oro or not. If not, that leaves some possibilities open for the fate of the Fourth.

Anyway, I'm sure Kishi will reveal all of naruto's past at some point down the line. He's building it up too much not to.

I'm pretty sure the Third said something along the lines of "This is a technique that was used to save the village" and hinted strongly that it was how they sealed Kyubii into Naruto.
