Yeah, wasn't a terribly bad episode... actually kept me somewhat interested for the entire time, something I can't say for some of the other fillers.
The movie doesn't look great though. It seems like there's another 3-man-totally-cliche team of badguys, Naruto acting like an idiot, and the introduction of a kid who I can already tell is annoying as hell.

for a filler, it was pretty good and it seems like a decent way to smooth itself into the non filler stuff (and hopefully no more fillers for a loooooong time)
Chances of that are slim.
The manga has enough chapters to fill... three seasons, tops, so they really won't have a choice but to resort back to fillers at some point.
Finally, this was definatly a good episode after all those horrible fillers. But, I found the intro quite slow. I cant wait for next week episode.
This ep wasnt good for filler.
This ep was AMAZING period. It actually beats some of the non-filler eps.
It had that perfect blend of bringing back old times and reuniting old friends. From all the jounin rushing off to fight on red alert (Hokage assassination), to Shikamaru and the rookie 9 (plus 2) getting taken out of the main fight for an important side mission. All I have to say is I want more.
It should be rookie 8 + 3, not 9 + 2
But yeah... I liked the ep. The part with the Jounin's was good.
And in terms of animation, it looked decent, but I found the ANBU too "big" compared to Naruto, Chouji and Shikamaru.
Oh yeah... wasn't Inner Sakura's scene a deja-vu from when Sasuke says shes below Naruto back in the Wave Country Arc?

It might be because I watched this episode when I was extremely tired, but I found it incredibly slow and boring. :S
The movie looks worthless by the way. No surprise there. I already hate the fucking generic anime movie kid. No doubt will he start out as an annoying brat and then eventually learn the value of friendship from Naruto and do that silly pinky thing that I don't understand how anyone can do without feeling like an extreme moron, and they will swear eternal love to each other. And then they will never meet again because the movie is not part of the overall story. YAY
