This allegedly means cracking down on digital internet piracy and being banned from your ISP if you are caught downloading pirated content, and obviously gives the government free reign over your privacy. France passed similar legislation a month and a half ago.

I feel like I'm in that episode of South Park that tried to encourage voting, when the candidates to choose from were a douche and a turd sammich.

I've been keeping up with this; its really shady. and the worst part is that its being endorsed by multiple governments. However, I really don't see anyway for them to enforce it besides deep packet inspection by ISPs I suppose.

Which the ISPs can't afford to do, and can't enforce anyway without all their customers getting absolutely fed up with terribly degraded service from having to inspect every packet.

Just another case of politicians legislating from their campaign funds (Big Content in this case) and passing laws without know one single fact about the topic and feasibility of their proposals. Or without considering the consequences of a broadly-written bill they passed as a knee-jerk reaction to some current event that caused some form of vocal minority outrage.

In other words, business as usual.

I'm hoping the ISPs have our backs on this one (kills their bottom line), because no one else is allowed to even read the damn thing.
