Man awakes from 23 year long coma, conscious entire time
The guy lay there...doing nothing. 23 years.
That's longer than I have been alive. I cannot wrap my head around that.

Sadly many of us who do not suffer from such conditions continue to spend our lives in a persistent vegetative state. I know I personally spent about 10+ hours this weekend playing CoD:MW2. There should be some kind of help for people like me.

Best case scenario is that if you play it so much and for so long, and you end up in a 20 year coma, you can have it memorized and "play" it for decades without interruption.
Honestly though, I can't imagine spending even a week completely trapped in my own head without any sensory stimuli.

Maybe the nurses were all hot, so he had that to think about. Of course, they probably don't visit the coma ward more than a couple times a day. Those nurse-less intervals would be long indeed.

His parents also treated him as if he were conscious, so they spent those 23 years looking after him at home, talking to him, and taking him out socially. So even if he were conscious and aware, he certainly wasn't doing nothing. Most likely scenario seems to be that he's been taking a 23 year-long nap, and now his helpers are either intentionally or unintentionally making everything up.
