Kakuzu could use any element that he had a heart for. He wasn't limited to just the 5, he just happened to have 5 hearts of different elements.Originally Posted by Knives122

Besides, arn't all elements supposed to be able to be defeated by another one? So if there are 6 in total, even though Kakuzu had 5 I don't think it would be much of a disadvantage.
That sounds like you're saying that Kakuzu didn't have all 5 elements on him at any time(which at one point in his life might've been the case).Originally Posted by AssertnFailure
But you'd have to think that he would've thought having 5 different elemental hearts on his being at all times was a little more advantageous then going around looking for them like they were pokemon right?
R.I.P Captain America.
Huh? I think you're countering my point...but I'm not sure....anyway assuming you did...Originally Posted by Knives122
It's pretty clear that each heart represents a different element, because when they manifest into their own distinct forms, each form uses a unique element. Also I'm pretty sure it was explicitly stated in that arc, since that was the same arc that introduced elemental affinities.
@mr3vi1m0nk3y: Correct. Ice jutsus are water + wind and wood jutsus are water + earth.

I read this a bit differently though. Since Kakuzu stole the hearts which would allow him to use all five elements, he was capable of using them. However, he didn't personally master each of them, he found a suitable workaround solution. So, the fact that Pein mastered all five (and perhaps a secret sixth) elements just shows how insanely powerful he is. Also, the scope of this fight so far, and the revelation that Pein isn't even using his specialty is wild.Originally Posted by AssertnFailure
Jiraiya is definitely pulling out all the stops now. Nobody has yet commented on how funny the hermit summon "scene" was, so I will. The hermit summon "scene" was pretty funny.
How's this different from my argument?Originally Posted by KCMmmmm

I'm sorry. I should have quoted a different response. I don't even remember what I was disagreeing with anymore.Originally Posted by AssertnFailure
I was thinking that maybe Nagato's 6th element might be a combination of all 5 known elements. Imagine: if a bloodline user is able to combine two separate elements to create a new one, what would be the ultimate combination of all 5? An unbeatable element, right? Since it contains every elements' strengths and weaknesses? That probably isn't it, but I'll throw the idea out there for fun.
This conversation reminds me of a complaint I had back in the element explanation chapter. Remember how Naruto asks how ice and wood elements exist, and how Kakashi explained that they were the result of a bloodline's ability to use two at once? Then Naruto asked how Shikamaru's non-bloodline shadow ability fits into elements, and Kakashi practically said, "I don't want to confuse you"? How fucking lazy was that of Kishimoto?
