It's funny, cause actually how it's portraited, it shows that ninja's are all about swords. Every movie you've seen, every game you've played, all the ninja's had swords in it. Ok, it's cool to see not just the cliche sword in Naruto but that doesn't mean they have to cut it out entirely. And it's indeed cool to see Sasuke with a sword.

@ DeathscytheVII: In martial arts you get taught to use your sword as an extension of your body, it being part of you. So naturally the movements you learn are just as quick and maybe even more practical then just your bare fists. Sure it takes practice but I think a true swordsmaster is just as deadly. Offcourse I'm not talking about any FF or Zabuza and Hayate swords but the original Chokuto sword used by the actual Shinobi should do the trick.
