Perhaps is a way to get him thinking about what he, or Xam'd really wants. It's like when you're still in school, a lot of us are idling around, not knowing what we want to do when we get out. It's useful to actually go and find a job, and pretty much any job at that. Working non-stop like that can lead to aspirations, and if not, at least you may find out what you don't want to do.
