Lol, I love the flamethrower scene where the dad's in the background using the grill.
Also the drug deal scene with the little kid flailing his gun up and down while riddling the other kid with bullets.

The parts with him whacking the punching bag felt like some sort of performance art.

I think he's trying to say something about the state of violence in the modern world and how easy it appears to cover our eyes by shielding ourselves and withdrawing into our umbrellas. A false sense of safety from the rains of injustice in the world.

Edit: Or perhaps because the man is wearing a fine suit it's a commentary on classism. The upper-class gentleman prefers to stand on the shoulders of the working and middle classes (the chair scene) all the while supported by his own economic safety net. The watermelon scenes likewise display the power of the wealthy to control and destroy the food supply of the working man.

The punching bag scenes are separated and distinct because of the handles of the umbrella. This is done to demonstrate that whether with a hooked (crooked) or straight handle, the upper class has the power to control and dominate. This implies that the problem is systemic, rather than individual. Whether by crooked or honorable means, there can be no true equality or harmony between the wealthy and the poor.

Well, this might also be only advertising to try and sell you an overpriced umbrella

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

I was laughing at the concept of a fighting umbrella until I clicked the link and realized it was about the president of my country.

    Then it all made sense.

Jet Li in Once Upon A Time In China 2 kicked ass with his umbrella. I didn't know he paid $180 for it.

I won't be getting this for the simple fact that I lose umbrellas.

I guess I was slightly disappointed with that link since it displayed the hardiness of the umbrella, but not the balance or handling. The guy was using it like a baseball bat beating up a guy for his change.

I'd get one of those sword umbrellas before I shelled out $180 for a regular swordless umbrella. Or a machine gun umbrella like the Penguin used.

For God will not permit that we shall know what is to come... those who by some sorcery or by some dream might come to pierce the veil that lies so darkly over all that is before them may serve by just that vision to cause that God should wrench the world from its heading and set it upon another course altogether and then where stands the sorcerer? Where the dreamer and his dream?

See, either of those two alternatives would really make it a dedicated weapon as seen by the general public, and will probably get you arrested in any developed country with decent laws. The umbrella linked is just that - a resilient as fuck umbrella.

Kinda like steel-capped boots compared to shoes with hidden blades.

edit: Like I said before, it just looks stupid because the guy's clobbering with it like a caveman. This is how you use an umbrella.

I pay $180 for one if it was like Setsuka's weapon in Soulcalibur IV. A male version of that would be awesome.

This reminds me of that bio experiment we did in uni, which required a nerve from a frog's leg. Naturally, we were required to extract that ourselves.

The electricity from my scalpel kept making the leg move. It wasn't the (not so) subtle twitching in that video though, more like irregular violent kicks as I tried to cut the nerve from the leg. I ended up laughing too hard to continue, so had another team member do it.

We needed the nerve intact, after all.

Considering electronic circuit (ink) printing is still technology under development and not yet in much industrial use, a cardboard box with Wi-Fi + 3G connectivity and 32GB of memory might be worth some money. Not to mention the optical illusion that makes a black box look white in photographs. That could be worth studying as well.
