Waaayyyy better than the previous! I liked Kira's attitude during his fight. 2 down, 2 more to go..

This was a really good episode, which I wouldn't have expected it to be when you consider that Kira didn't do anything we haven't seen him do a half-dozen times before.

But just having him explain his squad's philosophy and the way his Zanpaktou funtions within it made the whole thing much more interesting than just "it makes stuff heavier".

The Espadas release was cool looking too.

The reasoning behind the name has been mentioned before, I think. But starting with the squad philosophy and ending with the decapitation formed a really good entirety. The zanpaktou's useless form also got an excellent and above all natural explanation.

This was good enough episode that it didn't feel like stretching the material at all.
