Man, the only requirement for an ANBU must be an ability to wear a mask. Those dudes suck so bad it's not even funny. Even less funny is the fact they spent a whole bunch of episodes desperately trying to fight the three tails and then a couple of Akatsuki members beat it in a minute or two.

Fortunately the next arc looks promising, so I should just forget this piece of shit arc ever happened.

I dunno, back in the chunin exam Kabuto took out a room full of anbu and then proceeded to use their dead bodies as puppets. and seeing as Kabuto is the underling of an ex-akatsuki, it should be assumed that an Akatsuki member would have no problem with simple anbu.

I've never thought of anbu as overly-strong ninja, just more like, police ninja.

and again, this is Daidara we're talking about. the dude who took out Gaara. So he should have no problems with the three tails. Plus it's like, konoha sent a handful of chunin ninja to seal it, with some jonins for protection, while having to fight off other ninja. so yeah, it's not really that improbable for the Akatsuki to clean up like that.

It seems like you don't read the manga and are just making things up because what we saw in this episode was in the manga, and since this thing happened even before the Hidan and Kakuzu arc you can check it out without being afraid of being spoiled, chapter 317:

ohh, alright. that explains why i hadn't read this part. because i started reading the manga at the end of the hidan and kakuzu arc.

what was the deal with Daidara saying that it's weaker because it doesn't have a host? wasn't Gaara at the peak of his strength when he performed the sleep inducing jutsu, and then the beast took over? plus like, the 9-tails is plenty smart enough on it's own without Naruto, cause it's like the 9-tails ends up controlling Naruto sometimes. I think it's just this one tailed beast that was weaker because it didn't have a host

awman, i am so glad this arc is over.. it seems like it's been forever since episode 82 through 85, which were like the coolest episodes ever. while watching this arc, i had to just keep thinking about how much i liked those episodes, and tell myself that once this arc is done there's true potential for episodes like those again.

From what I understood, it wasn't actually "weaker" power-wise. However without a host it's just a brainless animal thus making it much easier to defeat. But I think I get what you mean, it does seem a little inconsistent. The Nine and One tails appear to have an actual human-level brain on their own.

That reminds me, the 2 tails also seemed seemed like a brainless beast except the host was controlling it, but we didn't see enough of it to know that for sure either. Sadly I think it's something that will never be explained in detail.
