Why is Luffy behaving this way, anyway? He does get persistent about nakama blah blah blah, but usually that isn't until AFTER he discovers something he likes about the other person. If Luffy knew about his ancestry in relation to Ace's that would make more sense, but I don't believe he knows of either at this point.
