Was this filler? It felt a little like filler. And the next episode is DEFINITELY filler. So...

This ep was mostly a padded out part of a transitional chapter or two of the manga with some flashbacks to save (waste) time. The next ep looks to be pure filler and possibly the start of a whole arc/series of completely unrelated random flashbacks /one shot episodes.

At least you could just stop watching Naruto for 2 years and it stuffed it all at a point where nothing was going on in the story anyway.
