I miss Orochimaru. One of the few villains I can relate to: I mean, who doesn't want to learn everything? Living forever was merely a means to that end for Oro. His path became twisted as he became more desperate in his pursuit of all knowledge, but at his core the man had pure intentions.
Ultimately I believe it was the Great Ninja War that started him down that path. He saw so many people die, many quite young. This lead him to the conclusion that there simply wasn't enough time. Combined with his masters fame for having such a large library of jutsu's and Orochimaru's ambition seems natural enough.
Kabuto better live up to that heritage.
