I'll bite. Start a discussion then.

I really enjoyed the aging character of Flit here.

You don't see many series where you see continual updates to a character over a span of several decades. It also feels realistic because it does show how adults were able to form their stubborn and self-justified ideologies due to something that happened in their childhood.

What really bothers me is Ezelcant's recent revelation that he intentionally leaves holes in his plans to "test" Earthlings or something like that. Doesn't he realize the urgency of his people and himself? Shouldn't he just exterminate all opponents and establish a settlement on Earth to reduce the fatality of the Mars Rays sickness? The reasoning in the latest episode was just bad and these holes in his plans backfired on a grand scale because surviving troops could be recovered and used later to weaken the Vagan army.

Other than that, I don't have much to talk about; I'm not much of a discussion starter.

I agree with you about Flit. Even if I hate his guts, it is interesting to see a character change to such an extent, while still maintaining his core goals.

Ezelcant probably wants co-existence with the humans on earth in the end, as long as they fit his standards.

What I am really confused about is why super pilot suddenly left his family. He said that he wanted to clean up the Federation, but there are so many ways of achieving that without being an asshole. He could have at least taken his family with him, or informed them of what he wanted to do. Pretending to be dead does not seem to benefit anyone, even him.

The gundam fights in this show are absolutely boring. I find that they just get in the way of the story,

Wouldn't it be a problem trying to convince his seemingly racist population to accept living with humans? It would seem counterintuitive if this was an intention and how he betrayed that one politician who was the Earth Federation President in the last episode of generation 2 where Flit purged anyone in power with ties to the Vagan.

In the very beginning of generation 3, Asemu mentioned something about a mission. It is possible that his last mission was to fake his death and join the pirates to intercept any federation-vagan spy ships that would be crossing through that unknown territory (his real objective).

I hope it gets explained when Asemu rescues Kio with the coming episodes why he pretty much abandoned his family. I tried rationalizing reasons why he would do this, but there are a lot of holes in the hypotheses I came. My best explanation was that the mission he mentioned at the very beginning of generation 3 was actually to take his own death and then provide surveillance in that region where he can intercept Federation-Vagan spy ships. The faking of his own death could be used to protect his family because if he's dead, his family can't really serve as hostages.

Maybe he was told by the Federation to find the EXA-DB and Asemu realized how corrupt the Federation was, so he took this information and formed his own organization to destroy it first?

Kind of... there's nothing too notable about many of the battle scenes so far in the series so far.

I don't know why, but I always expect X-Rounder abilities to go off in every dire situation involving Kio. That aspect, during the battle scenes, is pretty suspenseful for me.

Well, Kio seems to be the best pilot, at least in potential, among his family. I do enjoy that fact, even if I do not care for the battles themselves.

About Ezelcant's goals, like I said, he will only do it if humanity passes his standards. If they don't, I think he intends to simply purge them and colonize earth. He is not proactively moving towards coexistence, but merely allows the possibility to be there.

Racism in Gundam is always harsh. but they always get peace (of some form) in the end. so I won't be surprised if that is how this will end up.

I don't think Asemu was ordered by anyone. I think he himself realized the necessity of someone cleaning up the Federation and doing things that are not normally allowed by the regulations in his previous post. This is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it has allowed him to get crucial information and items that can change the direction of the war. My only gripe about this is the fact that he abandoned his family for the usual stupid reason of "protecting" them, when that could have been achieved just as easily without keeping them in the dark and hurting them by doing so. It is just such a trite and idiotic plot point that it irritates me to no end.

    Late releases:

    [sage]_Mobile_Suit_Gundam_AGE_-_38_[480p][EB3075B1].mkv

    ------------------------------------------------------------

The Vagan had very piss-poor defences... I don't think I can even rationalize a reason why they have such bad defence considering Zanald and his crew had docked onto the Second Moon base. I think it's clear to say that the Vagan's attack on Earth is an all-in military strategy... has Ezelcant not anticipated the Earth Federation getting access to EXA-DB first so that they can warp travel?

I've seen some speculation elsewhere that Kio is progressing to become the Kira of Gundam AGE because he didn't actually try to kill any of the Vagan mobile suits that were trying to stop him from leaving. Do you guys think that this is true or is it because he didn't want any kind of hazardous debris falling from the sky to injure the Vagans (Dean in particular) or was it to avoid attracting a lot of unnecessary attention?

    -----------------------------------

Great action episode, though I thought the bit with Ezelcant hacking away at the AGE-3 during his flashback seemed pretty awkward, though.

I can see the final battle with Flit, Asemu and Kio against Fram/Zanald/Deen, Zeheart and Ezelcant. That's definitely something to look forward to.

I hope the next gundam age upgrade is something unique. This boomerang shooting version is the most boring ever.

Honestly, it looks like bits/DRAGOONs systems from Destiny except that they're melee and only strike the heads of the enemy suits. It's going to be another pacifist protagonist again with a no-kill policy...

This is what I was expecting out of AGE. The characters themselves represent a change of ideas... you have the hardliner conservative who seeks to destroy every single Vagan, the strategic liberal who wants to keep a balance of powers on both sides and a revolutionary who seeks to salvage both sides of the war.

Sadly, I felt there there could have been more moments between Kio and Asemu and Flit. I'm going to mention it time after time, but those damn kids and Wendy in this final arc have absolutely no relevance to the plot or characters at all. And yet, they continue to show up and take up precious screen time...

In addition, Ezelcant dies... I don't know if it's a tradition in Gundam, but I've always noticed a pattern of the most prominent leader of one side having an immediate or cheap death. I bet you that when Ezelcant took Kio's biodata to use the AGE device, Ezelcant used some of Kio's genetics to genetically engineer that dude or girl in the chamber.

OP and ED were excellent and I look forward to the appearance of the fully upgraded AGE-1. Dark Hound doesn't look like it's got any upgrades for the final arc and has disappointed me a lot so far (I swear it's worse than the Double Bullet).

Call me barbaric, but Kio and his pacifist strategy is absolute bullshit.

Why can't there just be a series where brute force wins?

    Holy Fuck.

What the hell was Zeheart doing? He ordered Fram, who I really liked, to die then just goes off committing suicide for no good reason. I was hoping that the naked communication thing at the very end would convince him not to shoot the cannon.

Could he have been any more stupid?

Why do all the good characters keep dying in this show? I could care less if grumpy gramps, emo dad, or whiny brat died a horrible death, but those that are actually interesting (excluding Zeheart, he was the character I disliked most) just keep dying.

I wouldn't know what else I would do in his shoes after firing that cannon; cannon's down, your forces are sparse and the only other immediate weapon you have available to counter the gundams is sitting idle. I'm pretty sure the reason why the Legalis lost to the Dark Hound was purely due to story plot so there could be some emotional closure between Zeheart and Asemu.

    I guess not.

I think it's because the director realized what a big mistake it was to fit in all those unnecessary people and themes (Springan, the children, Wendy, Wootbit, three sand brothers, useless crew members, Dean, Shanarua, Emily, young Dique, etc.) and couldn't fully flesh out the three main characters and Zeheart. So we have half-assed characters that we see every week and when we see someone fresh, they're killed off because the script was half-assed written.

Holy shit, that was really REALLY bad.

Series went super downhill since everyone went up to space in the third generation; oh well, here's hoping the next Gundam series does better.

Eh...it wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. Really, I kind of felt like the second generation was the height of AGE and everything just went down hill from there.

The saddest part of AGE for me was that there really wasn't anything memorable. For Zeta it had Kamilles fight with Scirocco at the end. SEED Destiny, it was Strike Freedoms first launch. 00 was "GN flag out of nowhere!" at the end of the first season. About the most memorable thing for me from AGE is the destruction of the Diva. Otherwise, I just...didn't care. That probably sounds alot harsher than I intend, but I kinda just felt apathetic watching the whole thing. I didn't feel excited or sad or angry. Just...apathetic.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to say that a Gundam series is bad. I just find it unlikely that I will ever go back and rewatch this series anytime in the near future.

Also, kudos and apologizes to you guys for keeping this thread going. I know I kind of dropped the ball on it, but I found it really hard to watch each week. I was spoiled each week by Gundam Guy and wouldn't bother watching an episode until just before the next one came out.
