2) We've entirely dropped the "flame" concept now. Natsu could eat flames because he was a fire dragon slayer - he wasn't just any energy vacuum due to being a dragon slayer.
The last time I remember Natsu eating other forms of energy somewhat successfully was Etherion/tower. Can't exactly remember what that was all about, but I think the end message was you can't go around eating shit, lol.
As for the comment about Laxus "giving" him magica... /me shrugs.

The Eltherion lacrima contained all four elements in it. So he ate it, used the fire element in it, then the rest just made him sick afterwards.
