When a character gets presented as strong early on, in fact overpowering a major threat within the first few episodes and then spends the rest of the series as cannon-fodder, or in bed nursing her injuries, or suddenly getting sick when no one else in the group got sick, or when she's in a position to save someone she's the one that needs saving, etc., etc. then that's just a piece of shit use of a character if you ask me regardless of the rationalizations you want to use about "friendship". She became boring, and needlessly fragile.
I mean, in 10 episodes she became utterly useless in just about every arc, and I don't buy the whole she's not strong enough shtick at all. We hardly saw her use any of the powers she possessed, even when it meant life or death for her actual friends.
It became a repetitive cycle, one guarantee about the series was that once a new arc began you'd could bet on her being nursed back to health in bed for some reason, she was marginalized in just about every conflict.
I mean it's cool if she wasn't the strongest among them, etc. or that she couldn't defeat certain enemies, but the repetitiveness of her being cannon-fodder time after time destroyed her as a character for me.
Asuka for example wasn't always the strongest, at times she experienced defeats, but the story sure did a damn good job to give her the chance to redeem herself time and time again... nothing of that nature was afforded to Kasukabe.
