I guess he would have been too ashamed of fighting them right away. It would have been like a grown-up man stealing a candy from a child. However, he did send them flying when they became too annoying.

True enough. I was mainly referring to him being in the colosseum. I don't think it should play such a huge role in any revolution unless the accumulated audience, that is, a huge bunch of citizens, is used as a way to deliver information efficiently, such as what really happened in the country. But that he's in this plot at all makes me think he will get the fruit, one way or another. Who else would?
