How is Goku being hit despite UI?

Obviously because Jiren is still faster than UI Goku when he's actually trying.

Well yes, but Goku isn't even in his UI trance anymore. He's just shimmery, shiny and silver.

It's kind of important for them to comment on the fact that Jiren is fast and attacking in patterns such that Goku can not physically avoid them - if that's what he's doing.

I would accept that as an explanation (and that's what ought to happen) except that Goku barely looks like he's in UI mentality anymore, and that the writers have more likely than not just abandoned the core idea behind UI entirely now.

Just look at how they gave Jiren a similar aura.

Also, A17 is cool and all but having him NOT kill himself is also stupid as fuck. You can't "almost" self destruct but not.

Fair enough. I can agree with that. I said as much earlier. They took what was presented as a completely new fighting philosophy and just turned it into Super Saiyan 6.

I can only assume that he did something to Vegeta's final attack, and then hid during the explosion. Since he can't run out of energy, he wouldn't be unable to move like Vegeta was.
