All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.
There would be endlessly work for them even if they couldn't extend the population's average lifespan significantly (that would require a whole army of healer mages). Cancer and many other conditions modern medicine is still very much struggling with would provide the work, in exchange for fabulous amounts of money.
