They're rushing through a few chapters of the manga, presumably many of the LN.

    It's actually a real thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_dimorphism

As for Milim, I took it this way. They're not relieving tension. Rimuru is using brainpower to beat her. Everyone knows who she is. She is a power feared across the world. She's also not someone you could take down by force.

Rimuru is from another world, making things with recreated technology/culture from another world. How do you beat something so powerful it can do pretty much whatever it wants, whenever it wants, and no one will stop it if it sets its sights on something?

Bribe it with something it has never had before, and has no idea how to create. It's still a gamble. Milim could have threatened them for more. She's simple-minded, but not stupid. Rimuru lured Milim into mutual cooperation.

The problem though, is not it looks like their nation is one of her vassals. Now we've ventured into world politics.

No, it doesn't, unless one wants to look at it that way. Perhaps those who know Milim by reputation but don't really know anything about Jura Forest might think so, but such lowly thinkers hardly matter. Those who know Jura Forest a little better, will look at it like an alliance and thus also getting mixed into the internal politics of the various demon lords. If they are on Milim's side, they obviously aren't on someone else's side. If outsiders knew more of Rimuru's existence, they might as well think he's one of the demon lords, as a matter of fact, because he's a ruler of monsters. So, it would merely be two demon lords getting along. In the end Jura Forest was always a forest of monsters.

I wonder if Rimuru will get a power upgrade and if so, how. She's t least 10 times stronger, he said. That's too much to overcome with mere strategy.

You're saying nobody thought to eat honey in this world before Rimuru showed up?

Let's be real here, this was a gag solution, not some intricate strategy.

Kinda curious as to why he's not one already considering Geld was a Demon Lord, and he ate Geld.

I assume he'll get in a fight with a less-powerful, but more hostile, Demon Lord, and end up eating him. Possibly more than one. And each one he consumes will bring him closer to her power level.

I suspect that nobody has eaten the honey made from Jura Forest bees. They carry buckets! They must be quite advanced bees.

Nobody went into the Jura Forest because it was Veldadora's territory (sealed or not). That's very well established at this point.

There was the whole discussion between Milim and Rimuru where she questioned why Rimuru wouldn't want to be a demon lord. It's a title, and one that comes with at least some level of burden. Being attacked all the time for one. Maybe it is less so a power thing, because Rimuru is clearly already there, and more of a "notoriety" thing.

The other demon lords are curious enough to investigate, but since Rimuru has not publicly declared his authority, Jura Forest is still "free territory" to most of the world. It has been implied that while nobody would ever go there fearing Veladora, now that Veladora has disappeared, something much worse must be there.

    Episode 17

    - - --

I feel like Rimuru is acting too humbly and without any weight. There would be humans, and especially monsters/demons, who wouldn't take him seriously. Of course he can later beat them, but he would save time, lives, and effort by giving a strong enough impression in the first place. It's a world of the past with demons around to boot, so the meek Japanese diplomatic front shouldn't cut it. It's not like appearing friendly and courteous would be morally wrong, but it's a question of how folks used to threats of war or massive monster attacks would judge it personally. It would too easily look either suspicious or unconvincing. It'd be a different thing if the whole world knew about Rimuru and were afraid of his power even before meeting him. Then no matter how he acted, nobody would dare to look down on him or the Jura forest.

Related to that, it's utterly stupid how he didn't punish the goons sent by the other demon lord, despite those fools attacking the town chief. Doesn't he send a signal that outsiders can do whatever they want in the town, and the worst that might happen is getting kicked out? He should have given them a thorough beating and only then talked with them. Or made them pay handsomely if they carried any gold or other valuables.

I just like the gag where Rimuru tells people, "Oh, and that's Milim."

They immediately recognize her, and freak the hell out, since it looks like Rimuru has subjugated or allied with one of the strongest Demon Lords, who is now casually eating a sandwich.

Milim must be pretty famous, unlike most of the other demon lords. Nobody had any idea who Shizu's demon lord is by name. Nobody knew who Gelmud was either.

They must shit their pants when she shrinks back after Rimuru threatens to take her food.

The worse that happens is that they get killed by Milim if Rimuru doesn't get there in time.

Except he keeps telling her NOT to do that. The townsfolk are lucky she's too impulsive to follow instructions.

In my opinion one huge problem with that is that Rimuru also does tell that to Milim publicly. It means outsiders will see there's little understanding, coordination, or trust between Rimuru and Milim. Can they even be called allies? Nay, I'd say, and it's visible to anyone with one or more working eyes.

However, considering the general level of writing of this story, I'm not sure the author even realises the existence of this problem.

I'm seriously interested in how the world actually functions considering the powergains and such.

Elgi, Dawi and Umgi have names - but they don't get power from being named as a baby?
That means they have to level up differently?
How do they gain power, by killing monsters?
Why does it work differently for them?

How do monsters gain power outside of being named... is it different from how it works for the "noble" races?
If not, shouldn't mankind be super weak considering monsters can level up by killing monsters/humans *and* level up by being named?

Because they're not Monsters. That's only how it works for Monsters.

exactly, so how come that humans are not completely wiped out.

How come dwarves are not monsters but goblins are? Both are tiny humanoids, where is the line? Both live in their respective societies, both are sentient.

    etc.

Monsters can be trained just like a human, so mankind should be vastly inferior to everyone unless they have more "talent" or something?

    Because basic fantasy tropes?

Dwarves and Elves and Halflings aren't monsters because 100 years ago, some guy named Tolkein said so.

In Tolkein goblins/orcs aren't "monsters" either.

They have kings and live in tribes etc.

But that's beside my point, my point is... how can mankind survive against these monsters and evolve into the powerhouse they are in that universe.
A dragon/demon lord can, on a whim, kill towns and castles just like that... and if he doesn't want to do it himself, he'll name 4 guys and they do it.

What is a hero or how does a hero come into existence.

It would've been cool if humans gain strength depending on which title they own, that would've been awesome. A Knight is @ the level of an Orc, a Pegasus Knight on the level of an High Orc.

The King is basically a demonlord of mankind and so on and each king can grant only so many titles depending on how strong he is etc.

I think the whole "monsters can name other monsters without any downside"-stuff is super boring.

The humans survive against the demon lords and monsters because they have OP hero(ines), like the one that sealed Veldora.

There is a big risk in naming monsters for every other monster. But since Rimuru is the protagonist, he gets plot armor.

This. There are very much downsides to the system. Rimuru is just deus ex'd to mostly ignore those downsides.
