Isn't that, overcoming an insurmountable looking challenge, one of the primary tenets of the shounen category? In seinen or josei the point could be coming to terms with the impossibility and finding something else to do, depressingly realistically. In shoujo it would obviously be to find the knight riding a white horse to solve all of your problems for you.
