Anyway, what I've been thinking: Mages pretty much NEED a close combat fighter to protect them. Otherwise the speed of strong fighters like Ghislaine would totally overwhelm their attempts of casting magic.

For normal mages that had to chant. But Rudeus can quickcast.

Also, why did Sylphie not grow at all in all the years?! And let your hair grow, girl, dammit.

Well, she's an elf. They probably age slower.
