    Full Dive

"In an unexpected turn of events, dull high school student Hiro Yuuki obtains the full dive role-playing game Kiwame Quest. Created by the best of technology, the game claims to take "reality to its extremes," from stunning graphics, NPCs' behavior, to the scent of vegetation, and even the sensation of wind brushing against the skin—everything was the result of an ultimate workmanship.

Except, the game is a little too realistic and messy to clear. Kiwame Quest features over ten quadrillion flags and reflects the players' real-life physical abilities in the game. Being hit in the game also hurts in real life and slash wounds take days to heal.

The only reward here is the sense of accomplishment. Conquer the most stressful game in history that can't be played casually!"

This is pretty much the opposite of the typical cool, OP MC modern isekai/fantasy series. That actually made the beginning quite hilarious, as obviously the MC dude didn't expect such a thing from the terrible game. The MC's RL personality is kind of pitiful as well because he's a former cool guy (or at least he thought he was), but lately more of a loser. He's also a miserable sucker what comes to women, but I guess an average high school guy can't be blamed, too much, for that. However, I can't say I'd enjoy the RL parts so much, due to his lack of willpower. However, if he was any different, he obviously would have thrown the game straight into a trash can, where it belongs.

I've watched the four episodes out so far. I'm not going to call this series any masterpiece, but it's a bit different from most isekai/fantasy. Realistically this series should have stopped at the end of the third ep, but of course it wouldn't. I suppose I'll keep watching for the time being, to witness the MC's suffering in the lousy game.

It pisses me off that the MC keeps doing what that bitchy store clerk wants him to do. He was about to experience having his legs cut off. That psychological trauma would have followed him into real life forever. WTF. I'd demand that that bitch lets me fuck her at least for all the shit she made me experience. Guy should just return the game or call the police. And if that doesnt help: Just stop playing.

Also whats with his dumb sister? Is she playing the game, too, or why's she suddenly disappointed when he told her he plans to quit?

Lastly, that last episode was awful. No pacing at all. That entire episode shouldnt have taken up more than 5 minutes. So boring. We didn't need a whole episode on the in-between stuff. And I guess I'm too old now, but the whole "ahahaha, he peed himself, loool" was so cringe. Like any coach would LAUGH. At most a coach would be angry, like "dammit, take care of that before the running next time". Ah, that whole scene was dumb.

Still, I want to see where this goes. Hope the pacing triples in speed.

He's a miserable sucker, and the shopkeeper woman knows exactly how to handle such a sucker. You can't actually say it wouldn't be realistic.

I can understand why the sister was so disappointed when he failed the sprint and peed himself, but it's indeed quite a stretch she would be so disappointed by the dude quitting the terrible game. Rather, you'd think she would have used the opportunity to have the dude quit all the games and go back to sports. It would be a bit too deep to have the younger sibling be proud of the brother as long as he can dedicate himself to anything.

I guess it was there mainly to explain the depth of his trauma. However, the flashback scene didn't really have anything that would make it seem like it was just his perception of what happened. It was presented as objective flashback, which makes the other people's reactions a bit off, like you said. Unless he indeed was an arrogant bastard and nobody liked him. So, when he failed, they were all not-so-secretly glad he did. Except for the little sister who had decided to externalise her source of pride to her brother.

    episode 4;

So .... the game is hyper realistic, but the towns people attacking the hero with stones, trying to lynch him, is okay? If law is so tight in this game, than attacking an OFFICIALLY AND BEFORE THE LAW person should lead to harsh punishment for all these assholes.

Anyway, this is a bad anime. Pacing is glacial, and I just have no idea why he keeps playing this shit game.

    no?

    yes.
The first 2 episodes were pretty cool. But the next ones were super 'meh' and it's probably going downhill from there.

Yeah. I felt like the beginning was funny with the game being so shitty. However, the novelty wore out pretty fast. Now it has been established that the game is shitty in all ways, so there's nothing new to reveal in that sense. Thus, it ceases to be funny. After you have revealed 30 ways in which it's shitty, who's going to laugh anymore at the points of shittiness #31 or #32 anymore? Now all I can see anymore is the MC's stupidity, and that, unfortunately, is one of the major factors which traditionally kill a series for me. It doesn't help the shop clerk/fairy is a really rotten person. She's basically doing her everything, including using her feminine charms on a poor, unpopular virgin high school boy, to keep the dude playing, and when he's playing, all she's doing is making fun of him.

Watching this is starting to be about as entertaining as watching an Indian tech support scammer robbing all the savings from a lonely, trusting pensioner.

I should have watched a couple of more eps before making this thread. Because I wouldn't have made it.

Some tangible progress made this episode a bit more worthwhile, though I still have no idea where the story is going.

I hope the pants-wetting gag is never let go; its my favorite in this series.

It's just absurd enough to be funny to me, I guess?

    6

Its unfortunate that the story has decided that his reaction to stabbing his friend accidentally (really, he stabbed himself) was inappropriate and that he 'ran away'. He was chased away by someone with telegraphed intent to harm, and he asked about healing herbs to try and save him before that. Is not being a walking ER a crime now? This logic puts too much emphasis on the nonsensical, but at least his position is making some progress now, and the ghost is a done harassing. Yandere get!

And I even got another pants-wetting joke. The humor in this is hit or miss, but enough hits for me.

I used to think useless, stupid characters were the type I hate the most in anime, but now I realise a useless, mocking type is still much worse. I'm of course referring to the game store woman/fairy. Even some idiotic sidekick pet with an annoying voice would be better than that bitch. Why can't the MC test the sword on her?

Fucking thank you. Everything that cunt says is infuriating. She's making me wish the worst rape fantasies onto her. Why can't she be part of Redo of Healer :/

This anime has become a total chore. It's just not fun, or interesting, or exciting. It's just sad, and also nonsensical. There's zero explanation for why the hero still keeps playing this game.

I don't really want to recall the scene, but didn't the dude go back to the store to try to return the game, and the woman told him that if he finishes the game, she will marry him? He's lusting for her body so much he continued to play. He's still a young high schooler, so I guess he will get it up even if the woman is as horrible as she is.

It's a real pity the story turned out like this. The initial setting sounded interesting. Usually in isekai (or an equivalent like this), the setting is far easier/simpler even if there are deadly battles. This setting goes the extra mile in everything to make it more challenging. Why ruin it with all the shit, then? I guess the author thinks this is all brilliant and so funny. The world could have been highly demanding and full of realistic details without all the stupid, crazy, and annoying characters.

I think this is a comedy at heart, and the reason it doesn't get away with abusing the characters as much with the audience (us) is that

    A. In series with a similar premise (i.e. Konosuba), all of the characters get some comeuppances for us to laugh at. Here, it is only MC who is constantly getting the short end of the stick.

    B. Usually all of the characters are flawed in some way so we can get behind their retribution or enjoy their machinations, but here, the main character may be a little conceited, but is a generally pleasant person who isn't actively throwing others under the bus to improve his own standing. He's just a punching bag for this world, and that setup gets old after a while.

The girl promised to marry him for beating the game and that's his motivation? Did I really miss that? I mean, it's stupid either way, but ...

Also, addendum for this episode 7: If that cunt that already forced me into buying this shitty game then told me the game actually breaks my console when I die in-game, I would DEMAND a new console from her, no money from my side at all. That's part of what makes this show so infuriating: MC is a total pushover that just keeps accepting bs.

Shouldn't the dude at least check if the console breaking thing is true or false? On the other hand, if it's true, it wouldn't be true anymore. According to this series Japan has no customer protection laws and the game studio magically won the crystal clear court cases against all odds, but it's still impossible the studio wouldn't fix such a bug. If someone new sued them again, no amount of explanations would allow them to convince the judge for a second time.

Interestingly enough the game store bitch washed her own hands by giving Hiro the warning. Hiro, being the ultimate pushover that he is, wouldn't even deny it if asked. Although I imagine the bitch is recording the game anyway to laugh at it later. Now if his console is truly broken, the bitch can say she told Hiro that's going to happen, yet Hiro still kept playing. With the studio being above the law (maybe that's normal in Japan), dude has no choice but to delve into his own pockets for a new console. He's so stupid he deserves it, though.

Other than that, I bet Hiro won't return the pants and will be labelled a thief.

I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall, and him to unlock some game like skill by accident to make up for his hopeless situation where, yeah, realistically, a high schooler has no business brandishing a sword around trained adults...

The game store girl is really annoyingly useless, and that works because she is so predictably infuriating. Everything she does and says is just piling onto the joke that this game world is annoying and MC must have a few screws loose to persevere.

...Which brings me back to the irk with the sister. She blatantly set so many expectations on her brother being 'awesome', and now reconciles him not living up to those as pure tsun, all the time. That's fine. What bothers me is that he still treats her admonishment like the absolute truth when I see his behavior as relatively normal given his circumstances. People quit things they dislike all the time- why is this morality play here suggesting he is unable to 'move forward' until he conquers an unpleasant task? Of course, it will be framed as the correct thing by the end, but the premise alone has already lost me, and will remain a source of disconnect, but the remainder of the scenarios, and their deconstructions are still plenty entertaining.

I decided to drop this series. I watched seven episodes, of which I must have disliked at least six, but kept going because of my initial expectations and because I thought it would get better to live up to those expectations. It'd be kind of painful to watch a whole series solely because you believe it's surely going to get better, haha. That's almost like expecting MangaDex is going to come back online tomorrow or that miners will give up and the video card market will become normal. It's just not going to happen.

Maybe if the store clerk/fairy at least had been a better character, I might have persevered, to see the dude's struggle through the shitty game, but even she had to be an insufferable bitch.

    Episode 8:

I just don't understand how all that humiliation is supposed to be "funny". It's just frustrating, especially because it's tied to him making almost zero progress, resulting in snail-level pacing.

I should do as Kraco and drop it, but with 8 episodes done, I'm too close to the end, and some small part within me hopes that Hiro will actually accomplish something.
