My working theory is that she has just now become aware of boys and attraction, and he happened to be the first boy in her sphere that treated her normally. She'd up till now been surrounded by her watch dog friend and satisfying her attention with snacks. Enter guy that she can talk to, some intimate situations, and feelings develop- faster than I thought they would...
