it can also get worse, think about Kenshin episodes 64+, the creators saw how profitable the anime was so they decided to make up thier own storyline instead of doing a 2nd season once the jinchuu arc will be completed.
from what i know, those parts had full armor knights and Nazi's running around in japan...
