The hyuuga clan is strong and all, but they only use that certain fighting style. If there's an opponent knew a way around the close combat of the hyuuga then they'd have the upper hand. With the uchiha they are able to adapt to a fight much more easily and learn newer fighting styles everytime they encounter a newer enemy.
