Sigs and avas going away??

There are some simple solutions available here, if mods would only listen to reason:

1) Make viewing sigs as an option, much the same way as we can change the color theme of this new site as an option.

2) Hold a vote. Majority rules. Minority keeps their mouth shut.

3) Ignore the forum users and watch the threads dwindle as people leave and subscription die down as bad word of mouth goes around the net.

Personally, I think the first two options are very plainly better than the third one.
Are there any mods who would care to answer reasonably to my suggestions, rather than simply insult my intelligence for daring to have an opinion?

If the first one is logistically impossible due to coding, then fine, somebody with the knowledge give me a definate answer.

By your line of thinking, countries should lower/stop charging taxes. Just because people want something, does not mean it's the best solution

People in these countries DO have an option: they vote for the leader who offers lower taxes. If he is not elected, then they at least have the comfort of knowing the decision was fair.

Sigs have a lot of negatives and very few, if any, positives. Yet "the people" are going for it anyway.


Sometimes the people don't know any better.

Listen ciber, we've been more than civil. Our "childish tantrum" is simply us informing the others that something as ridiculous as this doesn't need to be tolerated. You're not listening to our requests, which is fine. But don't stop us from letting others know that there are forums out there that don't ban sigs....and you're the one being immature, not us. You're insulting us personally for speaking our minds.

Furthermore, I HAVE read your other posts, and nothing viable has been said about alternatives, only reasons stating why sigs are no good and why they weren't going to be included in the new version.

Either hold a vote, or set up an option under preferences to show/not show sigs and I will happily eat my hat, apologize to all and sundry and grovel at your feet.

well ill stay neutral, but why do you care so much for sigs? you call Ciber immature yet your the one who is arguebly advertising/spammingcause you dont have sigs, I see what Ciber means, theres more to a forum then sigs, sure their enjoyable but its not the focal point of the forum nor the focal point of Ciber's (and probably the other admins} life. So if suddenly gotwoot isnt good enough cause of the sig situation, then you probably are better off to leave, considering you were never a true member of this forum anyway if youthink like that.

My problem with the mods was not so much sigs, as it was the way the mods handled the decision. I felt that my specific issues had been ignored and instead was just told to get over it.

I've had a private conversation with ciber, and while I still miss sigs, now that I've heard him out I think we've agreed to disagree.

What would have stopped this whole debate from happening would have been an official announcement of the change and details on exactly what would occur before the forums had made the switch over; ciber has agreed to post a formal announcement detailing everything specifically, and I'm satisfied with that.

I'm tired; perhaps I'm not making much sense. But, with the official announcement soon to be posted, and the details laid bare in one place for all to see, I am satisfied.

I know this whole issue seems to be over for now, but here's my 2c anyway.

I may be repeating things already said, for that I apologize but I'm just reiterating.

Sigs are still able to be discussed, critiqued, etc on these forums. That part hasn't changed at all. It seems to me the only difference (correct me if I'm wrong) is that a particular sig of your choice won't be displayed at the end of each of your posts.

Is that really such a big deal? You can present them through links as much as you like it seems, people can offer feedback at any point. The only thing is that we don't see the picture automatically every single post you make. It really shouldn't be an issue, I don't know why everyone is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Considering that this is an anime forum officially, it's purpose is for discussing anime. There is a section for fanart, it's true, and you can discuss and present sigs in that section as much as is desired. Sorry to repeat myself again, but it's a very small detail that the sig you're discussing won't show up in every post.

Stay for the discussion, which is frequently of high quality. If you're after pure art forums, or forums that are specifically designed for artistic merit, then there are plenty of them out there.

Sigs are just a completely uneccesary bonus that don't add anything to what this forum is designed for - anime discussion. Personally I agree with Ciber in the fact that everything looks nice and clean and uncluttered. It's a refreshing change.

Yeah, it's too bad that the diagreement escalated into a war zone, I just felt it was taking away a good thing. Ciber sent me a link to what he wanted the forums to look like, and it was all text, linear, and way to formal.

why the fuck would we wanna discuss and critique sigs here if we cant fucking use them? If we wanna use em on another forum we would ask for sig critiqueing from the forum that allowed them. Nobody on the other side of the fence admits it but they are killing sig discussion no matter what you say that "we can still discuss and critique them" it becomes an act of fucking futility, at least recognize that.

I really hate to say this but since the change a lot less people have been posting on these forums. I dunno if it's because of the forum layout or if it's because of the sig rule but something has to be done about this because in my eyes these forums are going downhill.
