If people have a set limit, say 20 posts, they'll use their 20 posts up in a day, then that will make more spam.
20 posts a day, 7 days a week = 140 posts for that week
Most which would result in spam. Instead of posts limits for a day, why not for a week or something to that degree?
Its the common messageboard law, well not law, but you catch my drift, that some people will post more then others.
Some people have to comment on almost everything, its the way the operate.
Your actually not encouraging more people to sign up, by everytime someone posts more then 10 posts a day, OMFG stop spamming.
Some people find 10 threads to comment on, or feel the need to start other topics.
Maybe we need a new sticky on what is spam, and whats not,and what the punishments are, since the lines seem blurred
You talk as though it's a challenge to post less than 38 or however many you post a day. I agree that setting a limit isn't a good idea, but posting nearly 40 a day seems more like a raping of the no limit on posts rule. I can understand that some feel the need to put their input in more than others, but when your putting in twice as much as anybody else, people eventually stop giving a shit about what you think. I'll admit that there are people who post a lot more usless crap, but you can still try stay a good amount closer to what most people are posting in a day (even 20 posts a day doesn't seem that bad for you).
Thats what ive been trying to do. But im trying to get other people to understand, if someone posts 10 messages in a day, it dosen't necissarly mean there spamming, there could be 10 threads that they want to comment on.
I'll reiterate my request for a new sticky that lists whats spam,what happens if you do spam, and whats a aceptable limit on what to post.

When I was new I posted alot to get my rank up.
But I know peopel that post alot!
