Given the subject matter I'd be very surprised if this gets a western release, which would be a shame because the characters are very strong, and the situation is handled so delicately without ever wandering in to fanservice or ecchi. OK I wish the main character would have the strength to accept his feelings and move on from them, but that wouldn't make such an interesting show

If you want something that makes you think as opposed to waiting for the next magical / mechanical transformation sequence then you won't go far wrong with this one. Personally I'm enjoying it
