Ok, here's what you should do. First of all, uninstall the divx codec and player you have right now. Then go to here and download the standard Divx Codec, not the Ad Supported one. After you have installed the codec and the player try opening Divx player. If it still freezes, make sure you also have the latest xvid codec, and the lastest ffdshow codec. If that does not work, then I suggest you use a different player such as Real Player or Vlc Player. Hope I could help.
