To be able to see the movement imo, not to copy as nothing we have seen so far hints to him being able to copy something that you can't see especially when he isn't making eye contact(gates are inside and there is no technique to do it involving hand seals) Though he did use it like you said but I don't think to copy the gate opening ability.Originally posted by: Uchiha Barles
