One of my relatives had half of his fortune taken from him in his last divorce, and another relative had asked me whether her husband giving his sons complete control over his money should he be mentally incapacitated or otherwise unable to communicate his thoughts would mean she could be kicked out of the house, whether she could get any of it if she divorced him (then), and proceeded to start up a bank account with only her name in it for future financial security.

We're told from a young age that it's "i before e except after c".

But never told that there are more exceptions to that rule than there are examples of the rule itself.

Plus, phonetically it makes sense "wiiiii-eeeeerrrd". My mnemonic was to remember that "weird" was spelled in a "weird" way.
