Kakashi will go and try to save his comrades. Especially after what Obito said to him.
I'm thinking that Kakashi will go for his mission at first. By the time he decides to turn around and save his friends, they'll already be dead.

Well the recent revelation about Kakashi's father pretty much sets it into stone that Jiraiya is most likely the father of Yondaime. A lot of people believed that he was Kakashi's, but that isn't the case.
I still think that the Sannin are around during the Gaiden storyline...so perhaps it will end with the revelation of Yondaime's full name, and him perhaps calling Jiraiya and Tsunade mom and dad?
At least, I think that the Sannin are still here. Although the flashback scenes with Jiraiya telling Naruto how Orochimaru left....he looked a lot younger than the scenes during the old flashbacks in his lab..
I dunno though, like all comics continuity is flexible.

This was a great chapter, we finally get to see how much of an influence Obito is on Kakashi. Having Kakashi inherit Obito's motto about companions is great.
I am wondering if the situation that Kakashi put Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura in at the end of their Gennin test will happen.
Like remembr when Naruto was tied to the log, and Sasuke was buried in the ground with only his head up? Kakashi told Sakura to kill Naruto or Sasuke dies...

I agree with kakashi as he said there will be more casualties if he goes after Rin. But since this is manga who is about friendship and stuff he wil go after Rin and more people will die because of that. Or he will be smart and do both things.
My overall assumption of what is about to take place is that obito goes to save rin and in the process his sharingan awakens. Kakashi meanwhile goes off to take out the bridge and arrives at obito having sacrificed his life to save rin but in the process proving his own strength. Then I expect rin to transplant obito's eye to Kakashi with her last bit of chakra before dying making the eye significant of both there lives.
Kakashi could also attempt to take the bridge and fail initially and in the process he loses a eye and retreates at which point he goes after obito. Generally I'm assuming in him gaining the eye and perfecting the chidori by gaining it that Kakashi will in turn be able to finish the mission but will lose everyone he cares about doing it.

On topic: Good story starting. I have the feeling that Obito will help Rin, and get whooped, get saved by Kakashi. I'm only hoping that this includes some more background on the 4th, his real name, some fighting with him, and maybe Rin having a backbone. A non-dominant female character with some skills is sorely lacking in this series. All the women with skill seem to be super-dominant bitches that kick ass. Go Rin go!!!one

I think that Yondaime is going to do some saving here, probably of Kakashi when Kakashi tries to save the others and fails somehow. It's a good method to demonstrate Yondaime's strength and honour.

even tho it would be nice to know the 4th's name but it's really not that important, imo. what IS important is his abilities. i want to see his JUTSUS!!! probably someone already stated this before me but this is what i think...that obito will, unforutnately, fail to save rin and kakashi comes to help and the 4th joins in. they'll fight separate enemies and get back to konoha. You guys can call me an idiot or whatever, but I still think that Obito is the Akatsuki leader we saw in the final panel last month. Jiraiya said that their were three Uchiha Clan members who could use the Sharingan in the world. The third has to be Obito-san.
Which would stick to the theme of the series if you guys think about it.
Jiraiya and Orochimaru had a similar relationship and now they are enemies.
Naruto and Sasuke had a similar one, but they are enemies.
Having Kakashi and Obito be enemies isn't out of the question.
So how did he get his Sharingan? Maybe he got it from the hundreds of corpses of the Uchiha clan.
yeah you know, cuz he was just walking along and saw bunch of dead bodies, so he was like, OH SHIT LET ME SNATCH THAT SHIT. and then kakashi put a huge laceration over his eye to give the 'i got hurt in battle and i look cool' effect and then put it in. yeah, makes perfect sense when kakashi's only ties to sharingan are with obito.
It still doesn't explain the fact that he's constantly visiting Obito's memorial.

the akatsuki are not UBER powerful, there powerful, but they are around the level of jiraiya not overly more,
take kisame for instance, gai and kakashi can fight this guy,
kisame and itachi both ran away from jiraiya WITHOUT taking naruto, they arn't all powerful.
if they were all powerful how easy would it have been to take out jiraiya and take naruto, he still had quite a bit of chakra left as he used amaterasu (sp?)
don't get all confused with this kakashi get owned by itachi, it was a sharingan contest of course kakashi will lose.
orochimaru is just a scardy cat, (no he is) he is so afraid of the sharingan he wont get it off itachi, but i think he could fight him, he mistakes jutsu for power. he is afraid of his jutsu being taken away from him,
oh and i forgot: chapter 238 - page 18-19:
"There's no need to be impatient...yeah. someday, orochimaru will be killed...yeah. but more importantly we only have three years. if we all do it together, our seccess rate will be high...yeah?"
Yeah if they were as powerfull as people think they wouldnt talk about success rate,they would just do what they want.
