    My work machine runs a dell 2005fpw... 1680x1050 native. Home machine is a 2001fp, 1600x1200 native. Neither is terribly enviable, but it's certainly nice -- though in both places I'm finding more and more that I wish I had a second panel, even just a 1280x1024 one to spread out on.

    The original picture in the background was taken with my powershot SD400 (2592x1944, 5megapixel)... the background is just a crop of it -- I use another crop of the same image for my home desktop ... but it's not very different, so I'm not going to spam up the thread posting it .

    My director at work just recently got a pair of Dell 2405fpw's. 1920x1200 each, for a net desktop resolution of 3840x1200. It's really quite a sight to see. If his video card didn't suck (it's pretty old -- he'll be upgrading the whole system later this year), you could pivot both monitors 90 degrees and almost get a full 5 megapixel image out of the resolution. That'd be pretty sweet.

    You can download various themes off of the internet, and there are programs such as StyleXP , and WindowBlinds that do the same and have various themes and extras as well.

    This is how I do it. I have a custom menu with everything I need. I have made the wallpaper myself. I like symmetric wallpapers and they should be dark as well so you don't burn your eyes.

    El_boss, your symmetric background image doesn't seem to tile horizontally... Well, I suppose that wasn't even intended, though.

    I have had my current desktop background for a far too long time. I really should keep my eyes open for a good panning in some good anime, and get material for a new one. Unfortunately I rarely remember to do that when watching a new episode...

    Maybe symmetric is the wrong word. It's the pattern that's the important thing.

    Aye. I know what you mean. It's a succesful and interesting pattern, even if it's quite simple. But simple things are pattern wise often the best. Good work. The colours and the contrast of the colours are just such that they might be too strong for my desktop.

    i cleaned up my desktop quite a bit

    Not a huge TMNT fan (although I was when younger. But then, who wasn't?) I just throught the image rocked. It'll do until I'm a good enough artist/ digital colourist to make my own.
