and with chidori... it's so easy to avoid...
i think chidori should be able to pierce kimi's bones.. but it also might depend on how much bones (layers ... or concentration of calcuim) kimi uses..since his is supposd to be harder than steel
Erm, could we not go into Sasuke Vs Kimi? That's a different thread that doesn't need to spill over into here.
As for Gaara, my contention is with the fact that he doesn't have much of an edge, if any, vs. high-speed opponents- sure, the sand will block a punch/kick/kunai, but the speed of the sand is only so much- he wouldn't be able to Desert Coffin a hi-speed target. Heck, he couldn't do much to lee when he was moving around at high speeds- only when Lee stopped moving was when Gaara was able to beat him. Kimi, being smarter, we assume, would stay at a constant high-speed, aided by his seal, negating Gaara's ability to do dmg, since he'll be on the defensive.

i'm pretty sure garra will win and make lee shut up. Was lee planning on using reverse renge against kimi? he kept saying he would use his suicide technique... and since all the other sand-nins got new techniques i'm pretty sure garra has something else besides desert coffin.

Seeing how much stronger the other Sand Nin's has become I must go with Gaara on this one. He was always the strongest of the three by far.

First off I just want to say THANK YOU Mae, for putting the spoiler warning in the title. Sometimes people who watch the ep right away want to start talking about it in a bunch of other threads, and those of us who wait for the Aone release wander in and inadvertently get spoiled. So it was nice to know to steer clear of this thread till I watched the ep.
As for the Gaara vs Kimi fight, I think this is going to be quite interesting. They definitely recognized each other, and probably have a good idea of each others strengths and patterns of attack. I think that aspect will bring this fight up a notch as each will have to think harder to outwit his opponent. It seems to me that Gaara will have an advantage in that he is a long-range fighter whereas Kimi is more suited for close combat. However, Kimi seems to have speed comparable to Lee, which may enable him to get past Gaara's sand. There's still so much we don't know about Kimi. I think this fight will be pretty even.
i highly doubt Kimi has such speed as fast a Lee, when Lee open the first gate he was scared of his speed and said " Impress Speed " and stopped Rock Lee attack. AS for Kimi Vs Gaara, Gaara would win. remember Gaara has alot of tricks up his sleeves like his whole body is armor and when the armor breaks he turns into the sand demon and if he even does Kimi is squashed.
