I don't think they did.... Sasuke's dad only commented about the Mangekou Sharingan, which has already been shown in the series when Itachi used it on Kakashi and Sasuke... his eyes didn't become like they did in the flashback.
The flashback where Itachi's sharingan morphed hadn't been shown in the manga at the time Itachi was fighting Kakashi/Sasuke, so the animators didn't know to not show his eyes. The morphing sharingan in episode 130 is the Mangekyou sharingan.
Assuming your correct how are they gonna present this then... it would be kinda stupid to show the exact same move in two different parts of the series being executed in a different manner. THey only way the could get away from it is that when the eye morphs thats when the mangekou sharingan will kill...

Even then, fine Itachi's dad had his back to him that's why he didnt fall into the jutsu, but why didnt sasuke get affected... he looked into Itachi's eyes. Unless Itachi's eyes just morphed for the hell of it and he didn't really execute the Mangekou Sharingan.
mangekyou, tsukuyomi, and amaterasu are 3 different things.....

in order to perform tsukuyomi or amaterasu, you need mangekyou active
but you dont NEED to perform tsukuyomi or amaterasu in order to have mangekyou active
